Everyone goes through difficult times at some point in their lives.

Uniting Care’s Emergency Relief Program is available to people who are experiencing financial crisis & hardship. Other misfortunes can sometimes contribute to a crisis that leads to financial stress.

We can assist people in the areas of Kingston, Huon, Cygnet, Hobart City and Bridgewater/Gagebrook.

Our Emergency Relief Program offers direct assistance to people in financial crisis, with dignity and compassion, while encouraging strategies towards self-reliance and resilience through referrals and budgeting.

How can this service help me?

UnitingCare’s Emergency Relief Service offers assistance in the form of supermarket gift cards, food parcels, nappies blankets and budgeting referrals to other support services. When funding is available, we can help with some utility costs.

Allocation of types of assistance is determined by the worker making the assessment.

What do I need at my interview??

  • Identification & Proof of Addre
  • A current income statement from Employer or Centrelink

  • Receipts for expenses, bills, debts etc

Emergency Relief adopts a ‘one agency policy’; we request that those accessing our services do not use any other emergency relief agency for financial assistance. We have a minimum of ten (10) week wait between visits & financial assistance is limited.

If assistance is more regular or ongoing, we will encourage a referral to budget counseling and other strategies ensuring clients are supported toward self-reliance.
